Our Environmental Commitment.

We like fresh air, we like the ocean, we like watching animals play. We want to keep enjoying these things, and we want our kids to cherish them too. That's why we're constantly working to reduce our environmental impact. You can feel good about buying jewelry from Turtle Love Committee because it was selected and packaged with an eye towards protecting and preserving our planet.

We search high and low to bring you artisan jewelry that's made in small workshops using recycled metals and/or environmentally-conscious practices. We're working hard to get responsibly-sourced stones. We're making our packaging smaller and smaller, and we use the United States Postal Service to take advantage of existing delivery routes. Even the address labels on our shipping boxes are made with recycled paper.

Our EcoTurtle logo identifies artisan jewelry that is crafted in ways that are friendly towards people and the environment. There are lots of different ways of being eco-friendly, so we've made a note on each EcoTurtle product with the details that we think make that product friendly towards people and the planet. The stuff we do behind-the-scenes is mindful of the environment, too. We drafted this statement on the back of a piece of paper from the recycling bin. Our office is located near our homes so that we don't have to travel by car (and so that when it's pouring or sleeting, we don't have far to go). In the summer we use natural airflow to cool our space, and in the winter our office is well weatherized to maximize the efficiency of our natural gas heating system. We use rechargeable batteries in all of our office equipment, and we recycle and reuse paper and shipping materials whenever possible.

What's so cool about independent artisans?

Buying jewelry made by independent artisans means that you'll have awesome earrings and necklaces that aren't not like everybody else's. You'll look as cool and creative and independent as you really are.

And you're supporting artists, and the arts. So today's artists will have something to eat, and so kids can consider making art as a profession. That's good for them. Good for the world. Good for you.

Less is more.

We think it's a lot nicer to have a couple really nice pieces of jewelry than to have a bunch of junk that you throw on a couple times and then throw out. So the collection includes only pieces we really love. You know, the necklace or earrings that you wear every day. Your wedding ring. The stuff that has significance in your life.
