     They peered over the twigs and mud of their small home's walls to find their newest family member staring up at them, wide-eyed and innocent.  The two parents cooed softly to their new child, hopeful for the life she would lead.  They would teach her to be strong and resourceful, and would pass on all the knowledge they had learned in their own young lives about trusting the shift in the winds, the dew in the grass, the stillness of dusk.  Perhaps, though, before educating their offspring about the ways of the world and the wild, they would find her a worm or two to snack on.
